Betty Ann Easter, 82, made her transition from her physical body to her spiritual body on Wed., Aug. 19, 2015. Betty was born in Gallia Co., Ohio, on Nov. 4, 1932, and was the youngest child of Sylvia G. Kelly and Grover Cleveland Kelly of Nitro. Being the last surviving member of her immediate family, she was preceded in death by her parents as well as her sisters, Adeline Noffsinger, Mattie Casto Deardorff, Mary M. Keener; and brother, William "Bill" Kelly.
Betty married the love of her life and late husband, Henry Clay Easter on Nov. 25, 1974. Theirs was a match made in Heaven and a story-book romance that lasted until Clay's passing on Sept. 25, 2002. Getting married late in life, they had no children.
A Baptist by faith, Betty had a great fear of water and never learned to swim. However, she entered the waters of baptism in the back waters at Plymouth, W.Va., in May 1977 and commented on that day she wasn't afraid. She was a gentle, kind person, never holding grudges and always wanting the best for everyone. As her friends and acquaintaces began to pass on, she was very concerned to know if they "had accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior."
Betty worked at various businesses in the St. Albans area for many years including The Dime Store on Main St., New Style Shoe Repair Shop and Vogue Cleaners.
She is survived by a couple of nieces; nephew, Don Keener (Leigh) of Vero Beach, Fla.; and niece, Martha Casto Layman (Robert) of Scott Depot, who ran errands with her weekly.
A celebration of life will be held Sat. Aug. 22. Visitation wil be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of Casdorph and Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, WV. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with the Pastor Robert Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Red House.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hubbard Hospice House West, Thomas Hospital, 4605 MacCorkle Ave. SW, South Charleston, WV 25309 in memory of Betty Easter.
