Gladys Marie Bergdorf, 66, of Ripley, passed away June 22, 2015 at Thomas Memorial Hospital, Charleston, following an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 6, 1949 in Rock Castle, the daughter of the late Jarrett L. Parsons and Aulene Pearl (Morrison) Parsons Parrish. Her son, Matthew Bergdorf, who passed away June 20, 2015; brother, Robert Parsons; sister, Brenda Parsons; and her stepfather, Kenneth Parrish, also preceded her in death.
Gladys was formerly employed as a secretary for Kaiser Aluminum and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, farming, gardening, canning and taking care of her family.
Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Dale Ellis Bergdorf; daughter, Angela Bergdorf Lane (Greg) of Red House; grandchildren, Kensey Bergdorf of Morgantown, Blake Bergdorf, Jacob Bergdorf and Isaac Bergdorf, all of Ripley; brother, Lee Parsons of Gandeeville; and sisters, Violet Barr of Evans and Viola Litton of Fairplain.
A joint funeral service will be held for Gladys and her son, Matthew, at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, with Pastor Bill Holley officiating. Burial will follow in Parsons Cemetery, Gay.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
