Columbus "Chris" Blevins, 92, of Charleston, passed through the pearly gates of heaven on Wednesday July 22, 2015, at Bellaire at Devonshire, Scott Depot.

Chris was born in Big Rock, Ky., on May 24, 1923, to Lucy and William Blevins. He enjoyed life in the mountains of Kentucky, singing with family, helping his Grandpa at the grist mill, and learning to drive a bit early on mountain logging roads. Chris served in The United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater where those driving skills, math skills, as well as can-do personality were put to great use on land and sea.

He married the love of his life, Margaretta Isabella Stokes, on November 17, 1955. Chris had a winning smile and everyone-is-my-friend personality which served him well in life as well as in business. Through his many years he earned top sales at Wolverine Shoe Company, Texaco Service Stations (Kanawha City and West Side), and Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. Chris did not like retirement so he re-entered the work force where he could be people oriented as a security guard at St. Francis Hospital, WV Rehabilitation Center, and then driving his beloved WV mountains for Advance Auto.

Chris is reunited with those that preceded him in death: wife, Margaret Stokes Blevins; sisters, Myrtle Blevins, Marie Smith, and Stella Browning Stollings; brothers, Ernest Blevins and Howard Blevins; many members of Margaret's family, especially Ray and Freda Miller, and Mike Stokes.

He is survived by daughter, Krisan Blevins Lamberti; granddaughters, Jessica Lamberti, Selina Lamberti, and Krista Lamberti; and great-grandson, Dominick Stevan Lamberti-Morera; many nieces and nephews, especially Camy Miller Crouse and Vicki Miller Crouse; and special friend, Helen Cobb. To many, Chris was a special uncle, friend, and companion. He and his smile will be greatly missed.

He was a member of North Charleston Baptist Church and kept close ties to Big Cub Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Coal Mountain, WV. Services will be held in both places, North Charleston Baptist Church, 1009 Woodward Drive, Charleston, Friday, July 24, with gathering at 6 p.m., service at 7 p.m. followed by a time of fellowship and refreshment at the church; and Big Cub Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Coal Mountain, WV, 24823, Saturday, July 25, with gathering at 1 p.m., service at 2 p.m. followed by internment and a time of fellowship and refreshment at the church.

The online guestbook may be accessed at www.wilsonfuneralandcremations.com. Wilson Funeral Home, Charleston is serving the Blevins family.
