E. Roger Burke, passed away July 20, 2015, from advanced Parkinson's disease at the age of 86.
He was born June 10, 1929, in Wevaco, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolphus and Hazel Dunigan Burke; and brothers, Ollie, Hebron, Paul, Donald, Bill and J.W.
Roger leaves behind his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis Jean Burke; daughters, Connie Post Benton and husband, Billy, Lisa Stover and husband, Jay, Penny Sams, and Buzz Sams; five grandchildren, Nathan Post, Seth Post (deceased), Stephen Stover and wife, Amanda, Jessica Stover, and Ashley Sams; four great-grandchildren, Tristan and Bella Victoria Post, Clara and Callan Stover; siblings, Phyllis Knowlton, Carol Greer and Doc Burke.
Roger retired from Union Carbide, South Charleston plant after 45 years. He served four years in the US Navy on board the destroyer U.S.S. N. K. Perry during the Korean War. Roger graduated from Columbia High School in Carpenter, Ohio in 1948. He was a member of Cross Lanes Baptist Church.
We are so thankful for the loving care provided to Roger by Christina Meadows. A special thanks to Kanawha Hospice for the love and affection they showed our family during this time.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday July 23, at Cross Lanes Baptist Church with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor Seth Polk will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
