Harold Carter

Harold W. Carter, 82, of Dunbar, went home to meet the Lord on July 8, 2015, after a long illness.

Mr. Carter was a veteran of the US Army. He owned Carter's Care, Dunbar, and was the former owner of several service stations in Dunbar, Nitro and Sissonville.

Harold was a former president of Kanawha County Parks and Recreation and a former board member of Yeager Airport. He was also a former member of the Dunbar Lions Club and the Junior Order of Mechanics.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Madelyn Carter; and brothers, Jim and Buster Carter.

Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Doris Carter; daughters, Sherry (Randy) Carter of St. Albans, and Lynn (Mike) Ferrell of Charleston; son, Randy (Pam) Carter of Kingston, Ga.; sister, Alma Jean (Roy) Jarrell of Cross Lanes; brother, Gary (June) Carter of Pinch; grandchildren, Jason, Gabriel, Justin, Kathleen, Lauren, Kristen, David and Shayna. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Mon. July 13, at Davis Memorial Missionary Baptist Church, Charleston, with Pastor Roger Vannoy officiating. Burial with military rites provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin, will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston.

Memorials in Harold's name are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, West Virginia Chapter, 1601 2nd Ave., Charleston, WV 25387.
