Leah Scott scored 17 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out four assists to help the Marshall women's basketball team hold off Southern Illinois 61-55 Monday evening in Carbondale, Illinois.
Norrisha Victrum chipped in 11 points and former Logan standout Shayna Gore contributed seven for the Herd (10-1), which overcame an 11-point halftime deficit.
Cartaesha Macklin led the Salukis (7-5) with 15 points.
SC HOOPS Tourney: The Dutch Miller SCHS Christmas Classic opens today at the South Charleston Community Center, featuring three prep basketball games per day.
The event begins at 5 p.m. with a girls game between South Charleston and Hurricane, followed at 7 by first-round boys games between St. Albans and Lancaster, Ohio, then SC against Brooke Point, Virginia.
Both Lancaster and Brooke Point have West Virginia connections. The principal at Lancaster is former Spencer and Parkersburg South coach Jack Greathouse. Brooke Point coaches Joey Kania (head coach) and Jim Spicer Jr. (assistant) both hail from Gauley Bridge and Kania also coached at WVU Tech.
Wednesday's card tips off at 3 p.m. with a girls game between SC and Capital. The boys consolation is set for 5 and the title game at 6:45.

CLAY COUNTY HOF: A board of directors has been established to start a Clay County Athletic Hall of Fame program.
The program is set to begin next year and candidate nominations must be received by July 1. The initial induction ceremony will be at Clay County High School following the Alumni Association dinner on Saturday evening of next year's Apple Festival.
