James D. Coffindaffer

James D. "Jim" Coffindaffer, 75, of Charleston, passed away Sept. 5, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House.

He was born April 24, 1940 in Kincheloe, Harrison County, to the late Charles and Virginia Board Coffindaffer.

He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; sons, Mark and Mike Coffindaffer; grandson, James Vogel; and siblings, Ronald, William and Charles Coffindaffer. He was the last surviving child of Charles and Virginia Coffindaffer.

He was a truck driver and dock worker for Yellow Motor Freight and Cook Motor Lines. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and North Charleston Apostolic Church, where he volunteered his services to help those in need. He also volunteered his services at CAMC Memorial Hospital.

Jim will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He never met a stranger.

He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Vanessia Hillberry of Charleston; sons, David "Bub" (Carrie) Coffindaffer of Lost Creek and Patrick (Cheryl) Green of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Joshua (Kelsi) Vogel, Kendra (Shawn) DeLong, Kaylea (Chris) Zimmerman, Chyann Coffindaffer, Andrew, Liam, Brendon and Jaden Green; and four great-grandchildren and one on the way.

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at North Charleston Apostolic Church with Pastor Anthony Moss officiating. Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.

A burial and gathering of friends will be held at Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to North Charleston Apostolic Church, 2406 6th Ave., Charleston, WV 25387.
