Thomas Hastings Edelblute, III passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 27, under the loving care of Tidewell Hospice. He was a thoughtful man, a caring son and loving brother. Born on May 9, 1959 to Thomas and Margaret Edelblute in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; he graduated from Mercersburg Academy and attended both Roanoke College and the West Virginia Institute of Technology. T.H. served in the Navy on the S.S. Elliott destroyer in the Pacific. He worked at Osprey Biotechnics for the past 13 years, where he most recently held the position of Director of Logistics. T.H. was a member of the Pheonix Masonic Lodge, No. 346 of Sarasota Florida.
T.H. was a lover of life and everything Florida. He was a passionate fisherman and made an annual pilgrimage to Key West every July. He loved the ocean and the taste of saltwater on his lips. He was a loving caregiver to his grandparents in their later years as well as his Father, who proceeded him in death last fall. He was quick with a joke and had an infectious laugh that brought a smile to many.
He was loved by his family and will be dearly missed by his mother, Margaret Kuhn Edelblute of Sarasota; his brother, David Kuhn Edelblute and his wife, Laura of Granville, Ohio; his aunt and uncle, Alice and Latelle LaFollette of Sarasota; his aunt and uncle, Ann and Ownie Edelblute of Newport News, Virginia; and all of his cousins.
A Masonic service will be held in the Chapel at the Church of the Palms at 1:30 p.m. and a memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday September 3, at the Church of the Palms Sanctuary, with with Dr. Hmingi Browne officiating. A reception will be held following the service.
