Gas prices helping utility customers

The glut of domestically-produced natural gas is helping one group of people out: gas utility customers.

As West Virginia's gas utilities have submitted their annual purchased gas reports to the Public Service Commission, the data shows that lower natural gas prices are expected to drop customers bills between 20 and 41 percent starting in November.

Bluefield Gas, Peoples Gas and Dominion Hope Gas have all seen reductions in their purchased gas rates. Even Mountaineer Gas' expected $7.7 million rate increase could be offset by the reduced price of gas in the state.

For some of the companies, the reduction could cut around $8 a month off customers' gas bills.
