Elmer Dingess

Mr. Elmer Dingess, 80, of St. Albans, was born May 5, 1935 in Chapmanville, a son of the late Jim and Brookie Stollings Dingess. Mr. Dingess departed this life on Monday, July 13, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston.

Mr. Dingess was a retired machinist from Kanawha Manufacturing in Charleston, where he had many friends who loved to play practical jokes on each other. He also worked at the former Libbey-Owens Glass Plant in Kanawha City, loved to hunt, work in his gardens, and especially taking care of his tomato plants. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna Fay Dingess; daughter, Debbie Dingess; three brothers, Tom, Ray and Clyde Dingess; and sister, Viola Conley.

Survivors include daughters, Christiana (George) Ringwald of Charleston and Rebecca Hope (William B.) Dent of Dunbar; his companion and caregiver, Sandra Keen; and grandchildren, Jason Michael Feazell and Lindsay, Zachary Bonham and Kaitlin Bonham.

Service will be 2 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chapmanville. Burial will follow in Dingess Cemetery at Tim's Fork, Chapmanville, with military graveside rites to be conducted.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Friday at Evans Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Chapmanville.
