Patricia Harriett "Pat" Ahwash, 80, of Charleston, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House West, South Charleston.
Pat was born Feb. 10, 1936, the only child of the late Clay and Audrey Peters.
She was a licensed certified social worker and a certified case manager, where she was a member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, the National Association of Social Workers and the Family Caring Network.
Pat had been providing services for the elderly from 1979 until her retirement in 1996.
She was a graduate of Charleston High School and West Virginia State University. Pat then went on to receive her master's degree from West Virginia University.
She was a former member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, Kanawha City.
Additionally, Pat was the owner and operator of The Fabric Shop in Kanawha City and then Greenview, Personal Care Home in South Charleston.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeffry Dean Ahwash.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Eddie Ahwash; son, Michael E. (Catherine) Ahwash of Tampa, Fla.; and one granddaughter, Jessica Ahwash.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. Richard Mahan officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W., Charleston, WV 25387-2536.
