Michael Emmett Abshire, 56, of Dunbar, passed away of a heart attack Monday, Feb. 8, 2016.

Mike was born Nov. 12, 1959 to Joe and Regina Abshire in Charleston.

He was a member of Dunbar High School, class of 1978. He was employed as a service technician at Black and Decker in Charleston. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, Rex and Jason Abshire; grandparents, Zelma Reedy Montgomery, Cecil Abshire and Helena and Bob Hughes; father-in-law, Thomas Hoover; sister-in-law, Lea Bagley; and uncles, Billy Ray Abshire and Marshall Abshire and wife, Kelly.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Erin Abshire; parents, Joe and Regina Abshire of Dunbar; sons, Sean Abshire and wife, Kara, of Glasgow and Keith Abshire of Dunbar; granddaughters, Kenna and Karissa Abshire of Glasgow and Emma and Kalli Abshire of Dunbar; brother, Joe Abshire and wife, Diane, of Williamstown; sister, Sandy Abshire of Dunbar; mother-in-law, Sue Hoover of Barnsville, Ohio; brother-in-law, Dave Bagley of Westerville, Ohio; uncle, Mike Abshire and wife, Debbie, of Florida; nieces, Ashley Mullenix of Williamstown, Rachel Abshire of Huntington and Kate Bagley of Westerville, Ohio; nephew, Alex Abshire of Williamstown and Damon Abshire of Dunbar; lifelong friend and brother-at-heart, Ed Tolley and wife, Theresa, of St. Albans; and a host of other friends and loved ones.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Billy Lucas officiating.

Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 162 Court St., Charleston, WV 25301.
