Renata Geneva Berger, 53, of Cross Lanes, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 25, 1962 in Charleston. She attended Chandler Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School, where she was a member of the track team. She obtained her teaching degree from West Virginia State College while serving in the ROTC and completed her master's degree at COGS.
She was a teacher at Chesapeake Elementary School for over 20 years. She was a member of New Life Church and AKA Sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha). She enjoyed collecting Beanie Babies, playing The Sims, sewing and arts and crafts, and most of all she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Berger, and grandparents, Steven and Alice Isaac and Garfield and Hattie Berger and Wilma Brown.
Renata is survived by her mother, Alice Isaac Berger of Charleston; brothers, James, David and Steven Berger, all of Charleston; sister, Eugenia Berger of Cross Lanes; along with a very special niece, Jamilla Bryant of Charleston; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A service to honor the life of Renata Berger will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 13, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with Bishop Roy Welch, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
