The New York Times assembled a directory of "People, Places and Things Insulted by Donald Trump." The roster filled most of a page. Trump called Jeb Bush "a total embarrassment to both himself and his family." He called Ted Cruz "the ultimate hypocrite." He called John McCain "not a hero." He called right-wing commentator Glen Beck "dumb as a rock." He said GOP strategist Karl Rove "sweats and shakes nervously." He said conservative Wall Street Journal reporters are "some of the dumbest people." If Trump fails to become commander-in-chief, at least he wins a title of "insulter-in-chief."

A Boone County complainant says the local school superintendent is paid more than $130,000 and two assistants get more than $100,000 each - for a little system with 4,000 students. Yet 60 teachers must be laid off to save money.

Karen Black of the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association offered this thought on how to save more castoff pets: "If everyone in Kanawha County donated $5 to KCHA, our animals would benefit from nearly $1 million." Good idea. Meanwhile, conscientious people can perform a public service by getting their pets spayed or neutered, to reduce out-of-control overbreeding that sends thousands of discarded pets to the shelter.
