Clarence Clayton Baker, 93, of Boomer, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 21, 2016.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Clarence afterwards worked at Union Carbide/Elkem Metals and retired with 43 years of service. Clarence enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of Boomer Baptist Church for many years and loved serving as an usher and attending the men's Sunday school class.
In addition to this parents, he was preceded in death by son, Clarence Wayne; sisters, Genevieve Baker and JoAnn Bess; and brother, Dexter Baker.
Separated by death after 68 years of marriage and left to cherish his memory is his loving and devoted wife, Mary Rose (Johnson) Baker of Boomer. He is also survived by daughters, Mary Elaine (Ron) Price of Boomer and Karen Rose (David) Fitzwater of Charleston. He was "Pops" to grandchildren, Michael, Christopher (Sherry), Beth (Jon), Brittany (Robert) and Lindsey, and great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kyle, Haley, Zoey, Olivia, Kalleigh and Abigail.
The family extends a special thank you to Montgomery General Elderly Care for their loving attention during the three-and-a-half years he resided there.
Funeral service will be changed to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Boomer Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Strickland and David West officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens, Ansted.
A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
