About 7,000 people in Southern West Virginia lost power after a storm Thursday evening.
The high winds of a thunderstorm knocked down multiple trees, causing the outages in Logan County at about 5 p.m., according to a dispatcher.
At about 6 p.m., outage totals were: about 3,000 in Logan County, about 1,000 in Mason County, about 1,500 in Mingo County, about 600 in Wyoming County and about 650 total in Marshall, Raleigh and Wayne counties, according Appalachian Power's website.
