Stephen R. Anderson

Stephen Ray Anderson, 40, of Dunbar, passed away Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at home.

Stephen was born Dec. 21, 1975 at Thomas Memorial Hospital to Dolores and Claude Anderson. He grew up in South Charleston and attended South Charleston High School. He loved sports and was a devoted West Virginia Mountaineers, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals fan. He was a dedicated son, who cared for his mother full-time. He loved kids and never knew a stranger. He made friends everywhere he went. He had a passion for tinkering with electronics in his garage, which he had set up as his "man cave," of which he was very proud.

He was preceded in death by his father, Claude Anderson; maternal grandparents, Leonard and Nellie Cobb; and paternal grandparents, Marshal and Laura Anderson.

Stephen is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Anderson of South Charleston; mother, Dolores Cobb Anderson of Dunbar; brother, Mike Slater of Houston, Texas; sisters, Debbie Anderson and Pennie Anderson, both of Jacksonville, N.C., Lisa Anderson of Charleston, Leslie Wright of South Charleston and Amy Duncan of Nashville, Tenn.; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to honor the life of Stephen will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with the Rev. Kent Estep officiating.
