Charles Franklin Escue, 85, of Upland, went home to be with Jesus, the Savior he loved, on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Bessie Escue, and daughter, Helena Grace Escue.
Mr. Escue was originally from Kanawha County but moved to Mason County in 1957. He worked for Union Carbide, Coastal Tank Lines and Quality Carriers and owned his own logging business for several years. He also drove a tour bus for several years. Charles was a longtime member of River Cities Community Church, where he served as a deacon, AWANA commander, choir director and Sunday school teacher. He had a love for southern gospel music and sang in several quartets.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia Ann Bryan Escue; two daughters, B. Kay Hagley (Darrell) and Jane Edmonds (Mike), both of Upland; six grandchildren, Charlie Hagley, Bryan Hagley, Josh Edmonds, Elizabeth Call, John Hagley and Abby Cordell; and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, John Escue (Carolyn), and sister, Reba Bess (Jimmy), both of St. Albans.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, at River Cities Community Church, Huntington. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
Charles loved God, his wife and family. We will miss him but rejoice with him as he walks Heaven's street with a new body. Matthew 6:33.
