Michael Adams, 65, of Wharton, went home to be with his Lord on Jan. 1, 2016.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Earchil and Tilda Vanhoose Adams; sister, Phyllis Baker Adams; and brother, Eddie Lee Adams.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Elizabeth "Libby Lucas" Adams; son, Christopher Michael (Sharon) Adams of Alum Creek; grandson, Kenyon Graver of Alum Creek; granddaughter, Phoebe Grace Melton of Dunbar; daughter, Margaret Michelle Adams of Morganton, N.C.; brother, Stanley (Sue) "Butch" Adams of Wharton; sisters, Janet Sue Smith of Dayton, Ohio, Clotean (Carl) McDavid of Spartanburg, S.C., Debra Kay (Doug) Williams of Morganton, N.C., and Susan Mauddeen (Steve) Smith of Spartanburg, S.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as a host of friends.
Mike was a member of the Freedie Freewill Baptist Church, Van. He was a member of the UMWA and retired from Rivers Edge Mining, where he was disabled in 2003. He loved hunting, fishing, camping and roaming the hills in his side-by-side. He also loved singing for the Lord. Mike loved spending time with his family and friends, especially the little ones.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Handley Funeral Home, Danville, with Steve Burns officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
