Dan Deahl

Dan E. Deahl, 63, formerly of Charleston, died on Dec. 19, 2015, at Vidant Service League Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, N.C., after fighting a long battle with neuroendocrine carcinoid cancer.

Dan was born October 7, 1952, in Charleston, to the late John A. and Chloe Miller Deahl, and made his home in Greenville since December of 2010.

Dan retired from Union Carbide Corporation and finished his career at Clearon Corporation before moving to North Carolina. He was an Army veteran, having been drafted late in the Vietnam era, during which he was stationed in Kaiserslautern, West Germany, with the 30th Army Band.

Dan is survived by his life partner of more than 36 years, Michael Lampros, whom he married on March 6, 2014, in the District of Columbia. Other survivors include three sisters, Tamara Turner and husband, Jim, Kassandra Browning and husband, Doug and Jessica Miller and husband, Stan; two brothers, Alex Deahl and wife, Lynn and Dr. Timothy Deahl and partner, Scott Stevens; five nephews; and three nieces. Dan also leaves behind his two beloved Boston Terriers, Cricket and Dinky.

Dan's family members and many friends will always remember him as one of the most caring and generous persons in their lives.

There will be no funeral or memorial service at this time.

In lieu of flowers or food, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of choice, preferably the Kanawha Valley Community Band in Charleston, WV; the Charleston Light Opera Guild, 411 Tennessee Ave., Charleston, WV, 25302; the Tar River Community Band, c/o Pitt Community Schools and Recreation, 4561 County Home Rd., Greenville, NC, 27858, or your local animal shelter.
