After 100 years of a life well lived, Elaine Keeny Bird, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2015. She was surrounded by loving family and friends in her Edgewood Summit residence in Charleston, very near to her childhood home. Married to Denver H. Bird for 69 years, Elaine and Denver were long-time residents of the West Side community, and members of Bream Memorial Presbyterian church. A loving mother and grandmother, Elaine had a deep enjoyment of family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, golf, summer camping at Blue Creek and was a member of a bridge club that spanned decades.

Following her husband and son, Edward, Elaine Bird donated her remains to science at the WVU Medical School in Morgantown. All are invited to a celebration of life in Morgantown at WVU in June of 2016. Details of the event will be published near the date.

Elaine was preceded in death by grandson, Kean Bird; and is mourned by surviving grandchildren, Scott and Carol Bird; daughters-in-law, Nancy and Cassandra Bird of Morgantown; and great-granddaughter, Alexandra Bird; as well as niece, Nancy Lauchs; and nephew, Willis Moore, also of Charleston.

Gratitude and thanks to "second-sons" Frank Pritt and Chuck Priestly, and beloved friend, Nancy Byard, for their devotion. The family would also like to extend thanks to expert caregivers, Sandy Nichols, Brandy and Brook Bailey, Whitney (Winifred) Brester, Cathy Thacker and Teresa Walker.
