A man hired to work on security cameras at a shuttered Jefferson strip club stabbed another man to death Friday night, then walked to a bar and told someone, police say.

Scott Meador is charged with first-degree murder.

The victim, identified as Glen Alfred Carpenter, Jr., was found dead with multiple stab wounds in the Foxy Lady club at 6907 MacCorkle Avenue around 10:08 p.m., according to a criminal complaint.

Earlier that evening, around 9:30 p.m., Kanawha County Metro 911 received a call from a person at the Go-Mart at MacCorkle Avenue and Kanawha Terrace who indicated they had seen a man wearing one shoe and covered in blood muttering that he had just killed someone, according to the release. Deputies tried but were unable to find the man.

A short time after deputies and a West Virginia State Trooper discovered the body, police say Meador went to Grumpy's Waterfront bar wearing bloody clothes and told someone that he had shot someone. He reportedly told police he had been in the club to work on a surveillance camera when another man came in to do some painting. Police say they found a knife sheath, handgun and fired shell casing at the scene of the incident.

Meador is believed to be the same person who was seen walking past Go-Mart earlier in the evening.

Meador was arraigned by video early Saturday and is being held without bond at South Central Regional Jail.

Deputies say more information will likely be released later Saturday.
