Jo Anderson, 83, of South Charleston, died Dec. 12, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
Jo was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church, South Charleston, where she had been very active through the years. She was a 1950 graduate of St. Albans High School and was retired from Columbia Gas. She was a member of the Embroiderer's Guild. She had won awards for and had her quilts displayed in the Cultural Center and was an accomplished artist. Jo also had a special bond with Haven, and they enjoyed wonderful times doing arts and crafts.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Mallory Anderson, and her nephew, Clinton Anderson Steele.
She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Atwood of South Charleston and Ethel Anderson of Charleston; great-nephews, John Steele, Matthew Steele and Patrick Steele; and great-great-nephews and -nieces, Haven, Clinton II, Anthony, Emmaline, Harlow and Cash.
A service to honor the life of Jo Anderson will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston, with Pastor Randy Bratka and the Rev. Marquita Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in the Swinburn Reservation of Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.
Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, at the funeral home.
