The Charleston Town Center Mall has announced the opening of four new stores.
Lisa McCracken, the marketing director for the mall, said rue21, Rack Room Shoes, Altar'd State and Sleep Number by Select Comfort have either opened shop or will be welcoming customers by the end of September.
The announcement of the new store openings, McCracken said, is good news for the mall and brings new life into the shopping plaza. She said many of the new stores are trending brands, and in some cases, like the rue21 outlet, they are the first of their kind in Charleston.
"They are a teen retailer, and a trendy discount retailer," McCracken said of the rue21 store that is set to open in August. "They will be here for back to school."
McCracken said Rack Room Shoes will likely be open by the end of July too, and will be located next to rue21, creating a nice "synergy at that end of the mall."
Altar'd State has already opened its doors to customers, McCracken said, and the retailer - selling apparel, shoes, accessories and gift items for millennial professionals - has proven to be "a rock star from day one."
Sleep Number is returning to the Charleston shopping center for the second time, McCracken said. The popular mattress retailer had a store in the Town Center previously, but it shut its doors after a marketing change removed the brand from malls across the country.
But with another change in marketing, the company is looking to move back in.
"They really wanted an opportunity to come back," McCracken said.
The mall also announced last week that it had signed long-term leases with several of the restaurants on the shopping complexes' ground level, including Outback Steakhouse, Chili's Bar and Grill and the Tidewater Grill and Chop House.
Several of those restaurants recently completed renovations.
"We are always on the lookout with our leasing team," McCracken said.
