Anthony Black, of Plano, Texas, passed away November 22, 2015, after a brief illness. Born June 27, 1952, in Binghamton, N.Y., he was the first son of Marvin H. and Claire M. (Walsh) Black.
Anthony was a graduate of Charleston Catholic High School and West Virginia University. A gifted advertising layout and web designer, he was the owner of Edge Publishing Company. He had also been a successful restaurant manager and owner, a trade he learned while working his way through school.
He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Maureen Black.
He is survived by his mother, as well as sisters, Betsy Malfregeot (Marcel) of Clarksburg, Nancy Martin (Rick) of St. Albans, Susie of Winfield; brother, Jeff (Krista) of South Charleston; his close cousin, Sue Hodinko of Cape Coral, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Anthony was a good man -- polite, gracious, generous, and humorous. He was liked by all he met. He was a good friend, a good brother, and an exceptional son to his beloved mother and father.
A memorial mass will be held 2 p.m. Dec. 18, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 4807 Staunton Avenue, Charleston.
