A man was shot on Brooks Street in Charleston's East End at about 8 this morning.
Jerry Means, 64 of Charleston, was walking near his home when he was approached by a male teenager who demanded money from him, according to a press release from the Charleston Police Department. Means told the suspect that he did not have any money and turned and walked away.
Means said he then heard several pops and was struck by what appears to be a BB gun or pellet gun based on his injuries, according to the release. The pellets did not break his skin, however he was transported to the Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.
The Charleston Police Department is investigating the incident.
