Eva Dean Mitchell Brabbin, 89, of South Charleston, passed away Nov. 29, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Eva was born in Charleston on Jan. 19, 1926 and graduated from East Bank High School in 1943. She worked as a comptometer operator for United Fuel Gas Company, and when she had children she became a full-time homemaker. She was a member of the LaBelle Garden Club, volunteered at the Manna Meal Garden and enjoyed working in her own garden. She loved her daily walks, playing bridge with her friends, watercolor painting and taking care of her family and friends. And most of all, she enjoyed being "Mammy" to her grandchildren.
She was a devoted wife for 63 years to the late Robert Brabbin, who preceded her in death on Dec. 24, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Clara Dean Miles Mitchell; brothers, Walter L. Mitchell and Forrest Arnold Mitchell; and three half-siblings.
Eva is survived by her son, Robert D. Brabbin; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and David Broyles; and grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Jennifer Broyles, and Beau Broyles.
The family would like to thank her caregivers for taking such good care of her and giving her hope and encouragement every day. A special thank you to Linda Morris for all of her much-needed nursing skills and for being a good neighbor and friend. We would also like to thank all of her therapists, doctors and nurses for their expert care and making a difference in her life.

Family and friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston.
