Nitro community affair
The Nitro Development Authority will host the Nitro Community Affair at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Nitro Moose Lodge and Family Center on the third floor. The agenda covers updates and news regarding Nitro developments. Residents can talk with Nitro Mayor David Casebolt and city administrators.
Food pantry meeting
The annual meeting of the Board of Directors of Christ Kitchen & Food Pantry Inc. of St. Albans, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the downstairs lounge of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 405 B St., St. Albans.
Candlelight ceremony
The annual candle lighting ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens and Crematorium in Red House.
YMCA open house
The YMCA West Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Perrow Church, 5345 Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes. Refreshments, membership giveaways and class demonstrations. Demonstrations include Spin, Zumba, Pump & Burn, Silver Sneakers and yoga.
Toys for Tots fundraiser
Charleston Family YMCA, Charleston Volleyball Club and Toys for Tots are teaming up to host a Toys for Tots Christmas Volleyball Scramble at 9 a.m. to finish on Saturday at the YMCA. For admission, bring a brand new unwrapped toy for donation.
Cozy Christmas campfire
The Greater Huntington Park and Recreation District is hosting a free outdoor Christmas event at 6 p.m. on Sunday at Ritter Park's Gobbler's Knob, following the Holiday Candlelight House Tour in Huntington. A Cozy Christmas by the Campfire will feature roasted marshmallows, drink hot cocoa, and sing Christmas carols with members of The Arts Resources for the Tri-State Company and the H.A.R.T. Choose Joy Players. There will be crafts for the kids and a special jolly visitor.
Housing authority
The Charleston-Kanawha Housing Authority Board of Commissioners will meet at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at 1525 Washington St. W.
