Mary Jane Carter, 65, of 71 Swoope Road, Swoope, Va., went to live in her mansion in the sky on Wed. Nov. 11, 2015. She was born in Charleston on May 8, 1950, a daughter of the late James Edward and Virginia Mae Hughes Parsons.
Mary Jane was known as the "Give me a B" lady of Augusta County. She drove for Augusta County Schools for 40 years. Mary Jane loved transporting students and athletes for Buffalo Gap High School and James Madison University. She was an inspiration and mentor to so many about life, and what life has to offer. Mary Jane did not know a stranger, for she was also known as "Momma Carter." She touched so many people's lives with lessons of life, her devotion towards giving rather than receiving, and the fight to stay true to herself, family, friends, and loved ones even in her darkest times.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, George Edward Parsons and John Edward Parsons, both from Charleston.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, James Daniel Carter and his wife, Tammy of Staunton; daughter, Danielle Marie Bosserman and her husband, Mike of Waynesboro; her "Sweetie", Wayne of Swoope; three sisters, Virginia Evans and her husband, Howard, Mary Ann Caldwell, and Virginia Marie Edwards, all of Charleston; nine grandchildren, who were the light of her life and world, Michael, Natysha, Caleb, Tyler, Blake, Jackson, Jacob, Harper, and Cullen.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2 p.m., Sun. Nov. 22, at Buffalo Gap High School Auditorium, 1800 Buffalo Gap Highway, Swoope, Virginia.
