ST. ALBANS, W.Va. -- Four people were arrested after a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle that crossed county lines Friday morning.

West Virginia State Police spokesman Michael Baylous said a state trooper from the Winfield detachment spotted a stolen vehicle during road patrol and pursued it from Route 33 to Hampshire Drive in Saint Albans. Two of the four passengers bailed from the car during the chase and were apprehended, and the other two fled into a wooded area in St. Albans, where the driver was quickly captured by police. The remaining woman was able to escape into the woods and doubled back to the scene, pretending to be a concerned neighbor, and was also apprehended by police, Baylous said.

The driver of the car, Steven White, 26, of St. Albans, was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and driving under the influence. Kayla Robinson, 25, of Charleston was charged with possession with intent to deliver and fleeing on foot. Beni Payne, 37, of Charleston, was charged with fleeing on foot and possession of heroin. Mark Cobb, 29, of St. Albans was charged with fleeing on foot and possession of heroin and was wanted on separate warrants.

Police said the vehicle was one reported stolen Thursday while two dogs were inside.

The dogs were found, according to police.
