Patrick H. Brown III, born June 10, 1942, to Patrick H. Brown Jr. and Anna Mae Brown, passed away on Thurs. Oct. 22, 2015, at CAMC in Charleston.
He leaves his wife, Billie G. Brown; his three children, Patricia G. Brown, of Orlando, Fla., Dr. Sherri L. Brown of Omaha, Neb. and Patrick H. Brown IV of Atlanta, Ga.; his daughter-in-law, Amber P. Brown; and his granddaughter, Isabella M. Brown, also of Atlanta, Ga. He is also survived by his sister, Susan Stroebel, of Charleston, Ark.; three nieces; and five nephews.
He is predeceased by his brother, Michael D. Brown, of Townville, S.C.
Pat loved the city of Charleston and served as the Executive Director of the Charleston Urban Renewal Authority for 29 years. He participated in the redevelopment of downtown, including Capitol Market, Haddad Riverfront Park, Embassy Suites, and many other projects. He was a member of the board of FestivALL, Capitol Market, and East End Main Street. He was a very active member of Oakwood Baptist Church for over 35 years, where he served as its Treasurer, a Trustee, and a Sunday School Teacher. He was a proud graduate of West Virginia University and a long-time Mountaineer fan. He was loved by his many friends and family, and will be missed by all.
A service to honor the life of Patrick Brown will be held at 11 a.m. Mon. Oct. 26, at Oakwood Baptist Church, Charleston with Rev. David Moutz officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston. Family and friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sun. Oct. 25, at Oakwood Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Cuba Mission Fund, c/o Oakwood Baptist Church, 855 Oakwood Road, Charleston, WV 25314.
