Ray Nelson Caruthers, 80, of Spring Hill, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 after a brief illness.
Ray retired from Union Carbide/Rhone-Poulenc after 40-plus years of service. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church, and was an amazing father, grandfather, friend, mentor and a living example of God's love. Ray will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Juanita Taylor Caruthers; parents, Joe and Margaret Caruthers; brother, Joe Caruthers; and nephew, Jeffrey Scott Kelly.
Ray is survived by his sister, Charlotte Baisden of East Bank; four daughters, Pam Christy (Buddy) of St. Albans, Kelli Smithmier (Rob) of Milton, Ga., Susan McLean of Cumming, Ga., and Alicia Caruthers of Spring Hill; five grandchildren, Jessi McClellan (Caleb) of Waleska, Ga., Hannah Smithmier of Nashville, Tenn., Nicole Reed of Cumming, Ga., Wesley McLean of Cumming, Ga., and Jeffrey Scott Rucker of Spring Hill; and six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cayden, Colton, Jacob, Maddux and Hudson.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Randy Bratka officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
