Dreama Marlene (Bailes) Davis, 78, of Yorba Linda, Calif., died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sept. 19, 2015 after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

She was born July 8, 1937 in Charleston, W.Va. She met her lifelong sweetheart and husband of 58 years, John R. Davis III ("J.R."), at Stonewall Jackson High School on the first day of their senior year. They married in 1957 and began their Navy life together. Dreama loved her years as a Navy wife and mother, and looked upon each move with the family as a new and exciting adventure. The family moved to Yorba Linda in 1976 after J.R.'s retirement from the Navy.

Dreama loved being with her family most of all. She loved cooking, traveling and taking trips in their plane. Dreama enjoyed roller skating, bowling, volunteering and working part-time, eventually retiring from CADE in Anaheim. Dreama was a member of and loved attending First Baptist Church of Yorba Linda.

Dreama was preceded in death by her younger sister, Betty (Bailes) Harrison Lucas; mother, Martha L. Bowyer; and father, "Smilin" Johnnie Bailes. Dreama always said that her name was made up by her father, who was a country music performer and songwriter. Johnnie Bailes was one of the Bailes Brothers, a country music group that appeared on the Grand Ole Opry in the 1940s. The Bailes Brothers were also charter performers on the Louisiana Hayride in Shreveport, La.

Dreama is survived, loved and will be greatly missed by her husband, J.R. of Yorba Linda, Calif.; four daughters, Sharon (Davis) Heibel of West Jordan, Utah, Kathy (Davis) DeLangis (husband, Jon DeLangis) of Laguna Beach, Calif., Pam (Davis) Studebaker of Coronado, Calif., and Patty (Davis) Straub of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren, Jenny Peery of Payson, Utah, Tanya Peery of Phoenix, Ariz., Kara (Studebaker) Vause of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Lauren (Studebaker) Cofrancesco of Rancho Bernardo, Calif., Michael Heibel of West Jordan, Utah, and Kelsea Straub of San Diego, Calif.; and seven great-grandchildren. Dreama is also survived by nephew, Russell Harrison of Cross Lanes, W.Va., and niece, Sandy Harrison of Malibu, Calif.

Burial service will take place at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 25, at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, Calif. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at First Baptist Church of Yorba Linda, 18372 Lemon Drive, Yorba Linda, Calif., with Pastor Cliff Samson officiating.

Online condolences may be made at www.mcaulaywallace.com. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Dreama's name to St. Joseph Hospital Foundation, 1100 W. Stewart Drive, Orange, CA 92868.
