Now is the time for all good men and women to come to the aid of their country.

Here in Charleston and the surrounding areas we have so many people on welfare. We have children going hungry because their parents can't find work and here we are making 61 people new citizens. We need them like we need a hole in the head.

The only thing you see on TV that is not Donald Trump are the commercials. Are we ever going to see anything else?

Who were the doctors who signed the death certificate for Chad Harding allowing him to collect money from the insurance company on people who had not died? Doctors have to sign death certificates so who signed these?

Anyone arguing against protecting a stream has to be very stupid or very corrupt. I noticed that the governor talked against it, but is anyone really surprised?

Why doesn't someone with some common sense put some signs up on the Turnpike? They say that a lane is closed ahead but they don't say which one? Now all the traffic bottlenecks side by side until the very end and causes a big chaotic mess.

I've been a registered Democrat since 1963, but I'm so sick of Democratic policies now that I have changed my registration to Republican.

There are twice as many jobs in solar as there are in coal. Miners - ask where and when.

I loved Alyce Faye Bragg's column in Saturday's paper. It was just so refreshing and nice.

I am still waiting for the roads in Cabin Creek to be paved. It seems that we are always the last for everything.

South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullens when running for re-election boasted about shoring up city finances. Now two months into his term he is proposing a sales tax. What gives?

Joe Manchin backtracked on gun control after the uproar following the elementary school massacre died down. He is a political chameleon - all things to all people.

All the GOP candidates for president seem to be strongly behind the constitution, which includes freedom of religion, as long as it is Christian.

What I see on all the news footage of the Syrian refugees is mostly able bodied young and middle aged men. Also, besides leaving lots of trash wherever they go, they all seem to be well off financially. Why aren't all these able bodied men fighting for their country instead of running away?

The real problem with running for the office of president of the United States is there are not enough smart people to elect you; thus you have to pander to the ignorant, uneducated and religious to get elected, making a candidate, by definition, a hypocrite.

PEIA doesn't deserve any more money until they can: 1. get someone to return phone calls. 2. quit making mistakes on my insurance coverage.

"Creative" class: good; Tamarack subsidies: bad. Yes, visitors to our beautiful state want to see art and museums. That doesn't mean that art needs taxpayer subsidies.

Another snarky cartoon, in the Sept. 19 issue, trying to place the blame for the current chaos in the world on President Bush, when you are well aware that Obama's incompetence and poor judgment has caused this mess.

The clock Ahmed took to his school in Irving, Texas was not something he made. He simply pulled the circuit board and display from an old Radio Shack clock and put them in a metal carrying case. This is certainly not an invention. But it got him an invitation to bring it to the White House.

Will any Republican do research before posting/sharing/reacting? Will they not acknowledge that the Planned Parenthood videos were edited, spliced, and largely faked?

So a man with murder in his heart and no criminal record (Philip Casto) buys a gun at a pawn shop one day and uses it to murder a woman the very next day. Our lack of any true restrictions on gun ownership (waiting period, mental health checks, etc.) made this murder easily possible. (Thanks to this paper for printing the back story on the gun.)

Over the last 60 years, I thought I had heard the West Virginia legislators called more names than Donald Trump. But John McFerrin is the first to compare them to monarch butterflies.

That Trump is so high on the polls and is driving the clown car dialogue of the GOP presidential primary is further evidence of the sad state of those voter's ability to think.

To the person wanting to buy a Tesla because they have no emissions -- that's wrong. When you consider the pollution required to make the batteries, rare earth elements in the motors and the pollution of the electric generation, it is one of the most polluting vehicles in the world.
