Mary Kathleen Johnson, of Charleston, West Virginia, died Thursday morning, September 10, 2015 at Hubbard House Hospice after a four month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, December 12, 1948, to Robinett and Llyod Paulus. She was the youngest of three sisters which reside in Ohio. She received a bachelor's in English from Ohio State University. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry and short stories. She has written and published Children's stories about her grandchildren who reside in West Virginia. She had a love for music and wrote song lyrics most of her life. She had a love for sailing and worked many years for a yacht broker and owned a brokerage in Clear Lake, Texas. She was a licensed massage therapist and taught as an instructor at Everest Institute in Cross Lanes. She retired from teaching and worked from home for many years until she passed. She loved animals and rescued Rottweilers for the past 15 years. She had a love for all animals and was seen catching many bugs, mice or spiders in her home and releasing them into the wild. She loved to travel in her early years and made friends around the world. She would light up any room with her charismatic energy and pure light. She was a member of Unity Church, and members of the church provided a beautiful service on September 12, 2015, in memory of her. She spent the last several months of her life with her companion and soul mate surrounded by nature at the Greenbrier River.
Her memories are survived by son, Eric Ihnat, and daughter, Heidi Miers, daughter-in-law, Tracey Ihnat, and son-in-law, Kurt Miers. She leaves behind six beautiful grandchildren, 4 of which live in West Virginia.
A message from her friend in Germany read: Circle of Friends, "We didn't lose anything; we gained so much through her transition into another world. She spreads so much love around " My mom will continue to live on in our hearts and can be seen in everything that is living and beautiful. We miss you Momma. We will love you always and forever, Eric and Heidi.
