Clarence "Allen" Barefield, loving Papaw, dad, brother, son, uncle, companion, 49, of Malden, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 4, 2015 at CAMC Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
He was born in Charleston on Oct. 27, 1965 and raised in Malden by Linda and James "Jim" McDaniel. He was a member of Christ Temple Church. He worked hard for over 15 years at United Valley Bell in Charleston. He enjoyed spending time with his three granddaughters and going fishing with his family and watching the Dallas Cowboys.
Along with his loving mother, Linda McDaniel, he was preceded in death by his grandpa, Clarence McDaniel, and nephew, Dale Barefield.
Those left to cherish his memory are grandmother, Ruby McDaniel of Georges Creek; dad, James "Jim" McDaniel of Elkview; companion, Norma Hobbs of Malden; sons, Clarence "Allen" (Brittany) Barefield II of Glasgow and Joshua (Brooke) Barefield of Witcher Creek; daughter, Penny Barefield of Georges Creek; three granddaughters whom he loved with all his heart, Payton and Kenadee Piper and Adaleigh Barefield; two special step-grandchildren, Aubrie and Jayce Armes; at home, Jacob Priddy; Emily (Jason) Armes; brothers, Herb (Loretta) Barefield of Dawes and Jon (Ashleigh) Barefield of Georgia; sisters, Becky Barefield of Georges Creek, Kim (Glen) Moles of Georges Creek, April (Tommy) Vance of Elkview and Christina Barefield of Ohio; stepsiblings, Mike Pugh of Charleston, David Pugh of Charleston, Ellen Pugh of Ohio, Darrel (Alma), Cecil (Janet) McDaniel, Judy (Timmy) Green and Rithal (Bobby) Hamilton of Cross Lanes; many nieces and nephews; and many friends from Valley Bell.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the SICU at CAMC Memorial, especially nurse Ramona.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at Stevens & Grass Funeral Home, Malden, with Pastor Joey Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Kanawha Valley Memorial Gardens, Glasgow.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
