Zatnal I. Boatwright, 63, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord on Aug. 30, 2015. She was born in Charleston on Nov. 12, 1951 to the late Robert C. and Lucille F. Peoples.
Zatnal was an employee of the Charleston Police Department, a member of St. Paul AME Church, Charleston, and a graduate of Charleston High School.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wilbert and Robert Peoples; her sister, Dora R. Peoples; and former husband, the late Caleb Leonard Jr. (father of her children).
She is survived by her loving family: her husband of 26 years, Mark A. Boatwright; her daughters, Angela Martin (Tony) of Marietta, Ga., and Candice I. Walton (Datrell) of Canton, Ga.; two granddaughters, Taneisha Bartley (Darrell) of Atlanta, Ga., and Aleisha Leonard of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Devon L. Bynum Jr. and Treveyon A. Walton of Canton, Ga.; three great-grandchildren, Alayiah Bartley, Darrell Bartley and Jeremiah Bartley; seven siblings: sisters, Bretta (Michael) Holmes of Jacksonville, Fla., Jean Ann (Calvin) Knighten of Charleston, Jacquelyn (Donald) Durgan of Decatur, Ga., and Mary Panga and Darlene Johnson, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; brothers, Clinton (Georgia) Peoples of Charleston and Michael Cardwright Peoples of Acworth, Ga.; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at St. Paul AME Church, 1108 2nd Ave., Charleston, with the Rev. Sandy Drayton officiating. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will be in Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston.
