Eva Mae Carte

Eva Mae Carte, 87, died June 23, 2015 at Spring Meadows Health Care Center, Clarksville, Tenn., after a short illness. She was born May 29, 1928 in Charleston, the daughter of Archie and Pattie Jane Woodall. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Daniel Alex Carte, and brother, William Woodall. She was a volunteer at Smith-Trahern Mansion. Eva Mae retired from bookkeeping after many years with the Kanawha and Berry Hills Country Clubs in Charleston. After retirement, she made Florida her home until her husband's death. She moved to Clarksville to be close to her daughter. She was a member of Excell Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Sunday school class and the Excell's Seniors outings.

Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Ricardo) Gallegos; son, Michael Carte; sisters, Catherine (Glenn) Fowlkes and Linda Woodall Coe; grandchildren, Kimberlie (Adnaan) Rowshan, Shelley Anderson, Brittney (Lee) Edwards, Jeremy (Amy) Carte and Matthew Carte; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Eva Mae will be returned to West Virginia, where her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 27, at Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, 513 Tennessee Ave., Charleston, WV 25302, with the Rev. Archie Snedegar officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Excell Baptist Church Building Fund, 328, Excell Road, Clarksville, TN 37040.
