Retired Sgt. Lawrence "Larry" Patrick Adkins, 52, of Nitro, passed away Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1962 in Huntington, the son of the late Kenneth and Carole Ann Adkins.
Larry retired from the U.S. Air Force after 24 years of honorable service. He was a member of CCC HOG Chapter 5439. He loved the outdoors. He loved to hike, kayak and camp.
He is survived by his wife, Leslie Adkins; son, Andrew Adkins of Sissonville; sisters, Kim Lewis of North Carolina and Jaimie Cottrill and Ann Kidd, both of St. Albans; stepdaughters, Hillary Hensley (Adam) of Scott Depot and Courtney Roberts (Michael) of St. Albans; step-grandchildren, Alivia, Adison, Collin, Aubrey and Wyatt; nephew, Stephen; and nieces, Devin, Kirsten and Alyson.
Celebration of Larry's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with HR Whittington and the Rev. Patrick Figley officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Institute.
Gathering of family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
